I’ve been fortunate to make my living with words, first as a consultant in employee communication and later as a freelance writer and editor. For fun, I write short stories and essays. I’ve written about all kinds of things—log homes, though I never lived in one; pension plans, a dwindling benefit; and sailing, including my adventures over 40,000 miles at sea. Recently, I wrote a technical manual for the Joystick Maneuvering System (JMS). Take a look at a boat using the JMS to parallel dock and hold its position. You can find some of my work on the Internet by Googling “Candace Allen” + “log home” and at http://www.48north.com/mar_2008/still_cruising.htm or http://www.logknowledge.com/pelicanpublication.html.
